Sawsanda Nwe

Est. 2018

Sawsanda started her Hissho Sushi franchise in 2018, which she shares was one of the best and empowering decisions in her life. When asked how has being a business owner impacted her life, she says, “I am very grateful. I can support my family and as a woman and minority business owner, I feel strong with positive energy and support.”

She shares that her culture emphasizes humility, warmth, and openness, which have greatly influenced her interactions with customers and employees, fostering positive communication. Outside of her Hissho business, she is passionate about aiding people in her homeland, Myanmar.

Can you share your background prior to coming to Hissho?

I joined the sushi industry in 2007 working as a chef for my husband’s franchise. In 2018, I joined Hissho as my own franchise owner.

Can you share any experiences where your cultural perspective positively impacted your interactions with customers or employees?

The humble, warm, calm, and open-minded values deeply rooted in my culture form the foundation for maintaining positive and active communication with both customers and employees every day.

What motivated you to become a Hissho Sushi franchisee and a sushi chef?

I was impressed by the positive changes happening within Hissho Sushi, particularly the improved relationship between franchisors and franchisees, the support provided to franchisees, and the fair business practices.

In 2018, I made the swift decision to join the Hissho Sushi family as a franchisee. Looking back, it was undoubtedly one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

In what ways has your heritage influenced your role as a business owner? Are there ways you celebrate your culture within your franchise location?

One of the wonderful ways I celebrate my culture at my franchise location is by embracing and sharing our unique traditions.

This includes inviting others to experience traditional snacks, foods, and different New Year celebrations. Embracing and accepting these differences as part of our diversity fosters mutual respect among everyone involved.

How has being a business owner impacted your life?

Becoming a franchisee with Hissho Sushi has been incredibly fulfilling for me. It has allowed me to provide strong support for my family. As a woman and a minority business owner, I feel empowered and filled with positive energy.

What are some of your passions outside of your Hissho business? How has your role as a Hissho Sushi chef enabled you to pursue and advance your passions?

My top priority is aiding the people of my homeland, and being a franchisee has been instrumental in achieving that goal.
