Mon Mon Lynn worked as an engineer in her home country before moving to the USA in search of fresh challenges and opportunities. Mon Mon said, “My cultural heritage has had a big effect on my business, whether it’s how I engage with my customers and employees with kindness to making every sushi roll with love.”  She shares that being a Hissho franchisee has fueled her passion in encouraging cultural interchange and community involvement.

Can you share your background prior to coming to Hissho?

In Myanmar, where I’m from, I used to work as an engineer where I was an expert in my field. I chose to move to the USA in search of fresh challenges and new opportunities.

Can you share any experiences where your cultural perspective positively impacted your interactions with customers or employees?

My cultural heritage has had a big effect on how I engage with my customers as well as my employees. As far as my work goes on, I always try to show a lot of kindness and care for customers.

What motivated you to become a Hissho Sushi franchisee and a sushi chef?

After relocating to the United States, I joined Hissho franchisees as an employee before venturing into opening my own sushi bar. Choosing Hissho Sushi as my partner stemmed from their strong industry reputation and proven track record, backed by thorough research. Their invaluable guidance and support played a crucial role in the success of my sushi bar business.

In what ways has your heritage influenced your role as a business owner? Are there ways you celebrate your culture within your franchise location?

My cultural heritage has had a big effect on my business as well, from how I engage with my customers and employees with kindness to making every sushi roll with love.

How has being a business owner impacted your life?

Having owned and operated a construction business in Myanmar, I bring a lot of experience to the table when it comes to running a business. This journey has transformed my life significantly, pushing me to learn and grow in ways I never imagined possible.

What are some of your passions outside of your Hissho business? How has your role as a Hissho Sushi chef enabled you to pursue and advance your passions?

Aside from my Hissho business, I am interested in encouraging cultural interchange and creating understanding across communities. As a Hissho Sushi chef and business owner, I get to follow my interests in interacting with people from other cultures and getting involved in my community.

The Triple Delight Combo is my favorite sushi roll. I love how the tastes and textures go together. It is an absolute pleasure with each mouthful!
